Thousands of tents of displaced people in the Gaza Strip witnessed extensive damage as a result of drowning in the heavy rainwater that accompanied the atmospheric depression that hits the Strip, amid tragic humanitarian conditions experienced by displaced families who lost their homes and property due to the Israeli war on the Strip, while urgent appeals to humanitarian and relief authorities are escalating to intervene immediately to save families who have become homeless and protect them from cold and rain. The displacement camps turned into areas flooded with rainwater, after water leaked into the worn tents and flooded blankets, mattresses, clothes and belongings of families, at a time when displaced people are trying to save what is left of their simple property amid a great inability to face the harsh weather conditions. In a painful human scene, a widow woman found herself in the midst of the waters that flooded her tent, unable to find a safe place to take refuge with her children, after losing the shelter that was protecting them despite its fragility, to renew her suffering with displacement, loss and fear of the unknown, in the absence of safe alternatives. The tragedy of this widow reflects the reality of thousands of displaced mothers and families in Gaza, who face rain and cold in tents that do not provide minimal protection, while children sleep on wet mattresses and flooded floors, amid fears of worsening health and humanitarian conditions. This disaster comes in light of the extensive destruction of homes and infrastructure in the Gaza Strip due to the war, which left thousands of families facing renewed suffering with the onset of winter, as tents are no longer able to protect them from rain, wind and cold.
