With the first rain showers, displaced people's tents in the Al-Bidaya camp in Mawasi Khan Younis turn into renewed suffering. With the first drops of rain, the suffering of displaced people in the Al-Bidaya camp in the Al-Ard Al-Tayyiba area of Mawasi Khan Younis is renewed, as families face a harsh humanitarian reality inside dilapidated tents that can no longer protect them from the winter cold and rainwater leaks. Scenes are repeated with every low-pressure system: water seeps into the tents, mattresses and blankets are threatened with getting wet, and children and women try to shelter with what remains of blankets and primitive means to cope with the cold. Here, rainfall is not a good omen for displaced families, but rather the beginning of a new chapter of suffering, in the absence of adequate shelter and scarcity of resources. Facing winter remains a daily battle fought by displaced people inside tents that do not protect them from the harsh weather. Between the rain from the sky and the reality of the tents, the appeals of displaced people are renewed for the provision of safe shelter that preserves their dignity and protects their children and families from the winter cold and its dangers.
