About us
MediaTown is an independent news footage agency operating from Gaza, built on the experience of the award-winning documentary production and media services company founded in 2008.
We provide newsrooms, broadcasters and filmmakers with footage of events as they unfold, human stories and an archive documenting Gaza’s people, places and history. Our crews in Gaza regularly supply the platform with news and footage. We also offer research, field filming and production support for commissioned coverage.
Our experience spans Palestine, Ukraine, Yemen, Syria, Angola and other countries around the world.
Why we started
The idea grew out of a challenge we experienced firsthand: many media outlets struggle to access reliable news and footage from Gaza. We established MediaTown to help close this gap, making material easier to find, verify and use, so more media outlets can cover what is happening in Gaza.
How we work
Verification is central to our work. We review footage and its accompanying information before publication, paying attention to sources, filming dates, locations and context. We provide editors with the information they need to assess each material and use it accurately.
Our experience
Since its founding in 2008, the company has produced more than 100 films and received international awards for its documentary work. Its reporting and production experience spans Palestine, Ukraine, Yemen, Syria, Angola and other countries around the world.
