From Ports Around the World to Gaza’s Port: Workers Raise Their Voices to Break the Blockade and End the War Gaza – Fishermen’s Port A solidarity rally was held at the Fishermen’s Port in western Gaza City, organized by the Fishing and Marine Production Workers’ Union in cooperation with the General Federation of Trade Unions, coinciding with a global workers’ strike involving more than 100 ports worldwide. The protest aimed to condemn the use of supply chains and maritime transportation to fuel the war, while demanding an end to the war and the lifting of the blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip. The rally expressed solidarity with the international labor movement and emphasized the vital role of trade unions and workers in exerting pressure to end the war and prevent ports and maritime trade routes from being used to transport military supplies. The event also highlighted the worsening suffering of fishermen and workers in Gaza, amid severe restrictions on maritime activities, declining employment opportunities, and the loss of livelihoods for thousands of families as a result of the ongoing war and blockade. The gathering carried a message of solidarity beyond borders, connecting the demands of workers at ports worldwide with the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza. It also underscored the importance of international action to lift the blockade, protect civilians, ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid, and restore economic activity in devastated sectors, particularly Gaza’s fishing industry.
